ON THE INVITATION OF MY FIRST CARICATURE EXHIBIT (2001)
”In fifth grade class, she was constantly punished for endlessly doodling, and making comic strips on classmates’ notes. Back then, in exchange for a token of 25 cents, she would gladly draw a cartoon of you. At 11, Her first toon images were of Rico Puno, Imelda Papin, and Sharon Cuneta. She had no idea about light, shadow and composition. She thought Picasso was a concert pianist.

Caricature became a forte when she started sketching friends on illustration boards. With no formal training, she drew with a mixture of watercolor (Prang), colored pencils, and her favorite Pilot Pentel Pen (Black Fine Tip). She hates charcoal.

Soon she discovered the wonders of  computer in 1996. Armed with a scanner and mouse, she rebuilt her manually sketched drafts and gave them life over the monitor—texturing, layering, coloring, and shadowing. She named her images Digital Cartoons – original sketches in black ink made alive thru computer imagery, virtual rendering and moved one step further to animation.

Apart from doing toons, she is (this is enumerated at random and not by order of income) -- a lifestyle columnist and photojournalist of SunStar Davao, a webmaster, a graphics designer, a PR consultant, a dance choreographer, a workshop trainor, an asthmatic, an insomniac, and a full blooded Dabawenya. She is also a nervous wreck for trying to live life fully without exercising."
